Discover Puerto Vallarta
Visiting Puerto Vallarta guarantees your trip will exceed all expectations. Travel + Leisure magazine has even named Puerto Vallarta the Friendliest City in the World. Everything is easy and welcoming in Puerto Vallarta, one of the world’s top tourist destinations, attracting six million visitors annually.
This destination blends beaches, islands and coves with the lush vegetation of the Sierra Madre. It’s an ideal setting to explore the traditions and customs of a town that daily enjoys its artistic, cultural expressions, and monumental works from all eras.
Sun, sports, nature, rich marine life, a huge variety of exotic animals, gastronomy, traditional customs, and art in a Mexican port located in the state of Jalisco, less than 200 kilometres from Guadalajara, the state capital.
It is the third most important beach destination in Mexico, and a testament to its unparalleled offering is that, in addition to international tourists, it is a popular destination for Mexicans as well.
What to see in Puerto Vallarta?

The famous and beautiful Malecón is the heart of Puerto Vallarta’s tourist activity. It only stretches one kilometre, and you’ll likely visit it more than once during your stay as it offers countless activities, cultural offerings, good views, and a great urban atmosphere.
Also known as Rompeolas, we recommend starting your walk along El Malecón from the well-known monument Los Arcos at the southern end of the promenade, which always hosts cultural activities and features stands for the public. Among the many sculptures that adorn the Malecón, there is also a bronze statue called El Caballito, but there are many others (Neptune and Nereid, Search for Reason, or Vallarta Dancers).
Guadalupe is a must for pilgrimage to visit the Temple of Our Lady of Guadalupe .
The Romantic Zone is a neighbourhood that will leave you speechless with the vibrancy of its street life. It is located by the Cuate River and is a highly recommended multi-ethnic, cosmopolitan neighbourhood with very colourful building facades. It is also known as the LGBT zone. It is also known as the LGTB zone.
The Marina is the commercial heart of Puerto Vallarta, with bars, restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, and its famous lighthouse. Everything seems designed to embrace its marina, with a capacity for 500 yachts.
The Sierra Madre hosts many tropical forests, each more fascinating than the last. The Botanical Garden will amaze you, where you can visit the cactus garden, tropical fruit orchard, orchid conservatory, and multiple greenhouses. Next, you’ll find the suspension bridge that will lead you to an area with spectacular giant trees.
There are many things to see in Vallarta, without forgetting to end the day on the beach to enjoy its unmatched sunsets.
The best beaches in Vallarta

Natural beauty, warm temperatures, hospitality, and top-notch service are common notes at all of Puerto Vallarta’s beaches. The Pacific is ever-present, giving us a sense of peace and enjoyment that few destinations can offer. However, not all beaches in the area are the same.
Yelapa is a purely tropical setting only accessible by sea. It faces a small fishing village 45 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta. Spending a relaxing day in Yelapa also allows you to do some hiking through the jungle to reach the mountains. Along the way you'll discover spectacular waterfalls.
As with any trip, it is very important to know which sites locals frequent. Well, those in the area enjoy a unique, remote and peaceful environment, Playa Las Gemelas, a 20-minute drive from Puerto Vallarta. Turquoise waters, golden sand in a hidden location. Is there a better plan?
Playa Los Muertos is the urban beach of Puerto Vallarta. You'll see it on your drive through El Malecón and just across from the Romantic Zone. A lot of energy in the air, young people, a meeting point, and endless entertainment, dining and shopping options.
Looking to spend a romantic day with your partner and capture the best photos of tropical Pacific landscapes? That will all happen on your visit to Playa Conchas Chinas . White sands, natural and virgin pools formed by rocks, and a palm tree-filled environment make Playa Conchas Chinas one of the best places for wedding celebrations.
Cinema Director John Houston discovered Playa Las Caletas and was so attracted by its magic that he decided to settle there. It is only accessible by boat and has a private area with hammocks for adults by the sea and a spa atop the cliff.
The smallest beach in Mexico is Playa Colomitos. Very hidden, it is the smallest in all of Mexico. You can reach it by hiking through the forests of the Sierra Madre or by hiring a water taxi. A truly stunning cove.
To choose Playa Quimixto, besides knowing how to swim, you should also be skilled at horse riding. It’s true that you can get there on foot, but crossing its waterfall on horseback and entering the beach riding provides a pleasure matched by few experiences.
What to eat in Vallarta?

You couldn’t pick a better destination in Mexico to eat. Upon landing in Puerto Vallarta, you’ll be in the second gastronomic capital of Mexico, a destination filled with award-winning restaurants and host to important culinary events and festivals throughout the year.
Still, don’t forget that you’re in Mexico, a country with very unique cuisine and a vast array of offerings that, in Puerto Vallarta’s case, is based on fish and seafood. Dry ceviche is a must, as well as tasting a good smoked marlin, the shrimp, and, as throughout Mexico’s Pacific coast, pescado embarazado, pescado zarandeado and its variety of aquachiles.
What should you try to drink? Without a doubt, their craft beers, tequila, tuba, and tejuino.
Besides fantastic and luxurious restaurants, in Puerto Vallarta, you have the option to eat the best traditional dishes at the best prices, in the mercado municipal.
Adventure and Sport

Touching the waters of the Pacific Ocean with one hand while reaching out to the Sierra Madre and its tropical vegetation with the other allows you to create an extraordinary adventure itinerary.
You can see the bay from the sky by signing up for a parachute or bungee jump. If speed on the water is more your style, there are numerous providers offering inflatable boat rides. On the other hand, if you enjoy extreme activities, you can zip-line down mountain peaks, explore the jungle in a 4x4, or ride through the Sierra Madre on horseback.
However, if you prefer something simpler, where you can exercise and enjoy the view at the same time, we recommend an afternoon jog along the Malecón.
You can round off all these activities – after all, you’re on the Pacific – with some excellent diving in its warm waters.
Leisure and Culture

The Malecon is home to the most significant cultural and artistic expressions of Puerto Vallarta. Sculptures, performances, craft stalls, and temporary exhibitions are all gathered at El Rompeolas. However, right there, you can also join the Art Walk, which will take you through various galleries offering unique collections of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and statues.
DJs, live music, and a lively atmosphere in bars, cafés, and nightclubs will help you end the perfect day. You’ll be amazed by Puerto Vallarta’s nightlife and the bustling Romantic Zone near the Marina.
