Discover Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres
Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres are two of the most beautiful places to meet in Cancun. Indeed, one of the area’s greatest attractions is its turquoise water and white sand beaches, as well as pleasant weather almost all year round. However, within all this variety that Cancun can offer, Playa Mujeres is special for its own reasons. The first is that it is a more hidden beach than other more common ones such as Chac Mool Beach or Delfines Beach.
That means it’s possible to enjoy it – now that it’s not as well known – with great peace of mind and almost in exclusivity. And because it's not so well known, its environment remains virtually untouched, and we can see its tropical marine life, snorkel and relax completely. Can you imagine the turquoise blue sky and sea above you? A nice temperature and something to drink, right?
Newblue makes it easy. To know where Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres are, you need to identify two locations: Costa Mujeres is a piece of coastline on a peninsula attached to the Yucatan, and Playa Mujeres is within that coastline. It belongs to the Islas Mujeres, but it is on the Yucatan Peninsula. If you want to go to Isla Mujeres (totally recommended), you must do so by catamaran.
This area has many attractions, including its proximity to Cancun and a wide variety of activities: visiting Mayan ruins, diving in its crystal-clear waters, visiting one of its iconic museums, such as the Mayan history museum, or tasting some of the area's culinary specialties. Tacos, ceviche and lobster are some of their specialties. The time in Cancun is 7 hours behind Spain, but once you’re there, you’ll completely forget the clock!
What to see in Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres?

Isla Mujeres
This is the island that gave Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres their names. It is an island across from the peninsula itself, just a few minutes away. To get there, you have to go by catamaran from Tortuga Beach, Embarcadero or Caracol Beach. The name of the island comes from being a place where the Mayans worshipped the goddess Ixchel, protector of love and fertility. There they left female figurines that the Spaniards saw and thus named the island after them. It is a spectacular place, removed from the peninsula and where you can dive to enjoy the rich marine fauna of this entire area.
Parque Garrafón
It is a natural park located in the south of Isla Mujeres. We recommend taking advantage of your visit to get closer to it and to see the famous coral barrier of the Mexican coast, where thanks to the transparency of the water you can see shoals of fish in its shallow waters. It is also an ideal place for diving and kayaking. There are even dolphins!
