Newblue, part of W2M’s global commitment
As part of World2Meet (W2M), the travel division of the Iberostar Group, we implement the Responsible Impact initiative, which guides our efforts towards more conscious and sustainable tourism. This includes promoting waste reduction and the decarbonisation of our operations, empowering our suppliers, employees, and strategic partners in sustainable practices, and fostering travel experiences that create a positive impact on communities and the environment.
We are part of the United Nations Global Compact, a global initiative that brings together companies committed to corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. Our decarbonisation strategy is validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), ensuring that our goals are aligned with climate science and the Paris Agreement. For us, sustainability is not a trend but an operating principle, one that is constantly evolving and in which we play an active role.
Circular economy, transformation and responsible products
Circular economy: At Newblue, we promote sustainable tourism that aims to minimise our environmental impact. We focus on decarbonising our operations and reducing waste, implementing responsible practices across all our business areas to optimise resources and strengthen the resilience of the tourism system.
Responsible transformation: We train suppliers, employees and strategic partners in sustainable practices, encouraging efficient use of resources, reducing environmental footprints, and respecting human rights and animal welfare. Our goal is to drive positive change within the industry towards more responsible and innovative business models.
Responsible products: We design and offer high-quality travel products that create a positive impact on both local communities and the environment. To achieve this, we maintain a close and collaborative relationship with our suppliers, ensuring that every experience is sustainable and contributes to a more conscious tourism industry.

Bluer seas: protecting so we can keep travelling
The sea is part of who we are and of many of the destinations we travel to. That’s why, at Newblue, we promote Mares Azules, an initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of protecting our oceans and coastal environments.
We organise awareness days for travel agents and partners, featuring interactive workshops, expert talks and visits to protected areas. In collaboration with local conservation organisations, we create spaces to share knowledge and experiences that inspire our teams to become ambassadors for marine conservation. This way, we multiply our positive impact: travel agents can better advise tourists on sustainable destinations and environmentally responsible marine activities.
For us, travelling also means caring, and we want to play an active role in preserving what inspires us to explore.
Iberostar: Wave of Change
Newblue is part of World2Meet (W2M), the travel division of the Iberostar Group, which enables us to align our work with a global approach to sustainability and responsible tourism.
Wave of Change was launched in 2017 as an innovative movement to promote a model of responsible tourism that inspires the entire company, its partners, and society as a whole to care for the oceans and the destinations where we operate. This programme has become the driving force behind Iberostar Group’s sustainability efforts, aiming to mitigate the effects of climate change, protect biodiversity, and combat pollution in seas and coastal areas. Iberostar collaborates with intergovernmental organisations, local communities, sustainability experts, scientists, and NGOs to find innovative solutions that connect tourism and conservation.
As part of the group, at Newblue we share this vision and work towards a responsible tourism model focused on people and the protection of the environment, a commitment reflected in Iberostar’s Sustainability Report and Progress Report.

Roadmap
- Since 2024, our offices, stores, and hotels have been powered entirely by renewable energy.
- By 2026, all our operations, including offices, stores, aircraft, and hotels, will be free of waste sent to landfill.
- We promote more responsible tourism by working closely with our suppliers and raising awareness of sustainability throughout the value chain.
- We are implementing emission reduction measures with the following 2030 targets: a 50% reduction in W2M’s emissions and a 16% reduction in emissions per passenger for the airline.
- We aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040 in intermediation and hotels, and by 2050 in the airline, in line with IATA’s commitments.
World2Fly: Sustainability Onboard
At our airline, World2Fly, our commitment to people and the environment is evident throughout the entire flight experience. In 2024, we obtained the IEnvA certification from IATA, aligned with ISO 14001, recognising our environmental management, pollution prevention, and continuous improvement in both environmental and social performance.
Our modern fleet includes the Airbus A350, which reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 25% compared to previous models. From 2025, we will be incorporating sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and implementing operational efficiency measures, such as optimising onboard weight, contributing to emissions reduction. In addition, we are part of the Aviation Sustainability Alliance (AST), promoting more responsible air travel.
Onboard, we minimise single-use plastics and optimise catering to reduce waste. Crew uniforms are made from recycled materials, and we have digitalised the in-flight magazine and other services to enhance the passenger experience. Every action is designed to make flying with World2Fly comfortable, safe, and environmentally responsible, ensuring that each journey contributes to the care of our planet.
