Filandia – Cocora Valley and Salento
Description
Assistance at the departure point by the guide in the selected language and transfer in private transport to the traditional town of Filandia. There, we will walk its colonial streets, visit the Quindío viewpoint (entrance included. Note: closed every Monday or Tuesday if Monday is a public holiday in Colombia). Stop at a basketry workshop and enjoy a gastronomic experience with a local drink and dessert in a local restaurant. Then, transfer to the Cocora Valley while enjoying the beautiful landscape. Upon arrival at the Valley, we will have a welcome cocktail (canelazo) and assistance from a specialized Cocora eco-guide who will give an introduction to the Cocora Natural Reserve. On foot, we will transfer to the cloud forest to appreciate the area's biodiversity of fauna and flora, taking the ecological trail of the tallest wax palm in the world and Colombia’s national tree. We will perform the Quindío wax palm ritual, which consists of learning the history of how the indigenous people worshipped this palm, followed by the planting of wax palm seedlings. Transfer to the typical town of Salento where we will do a walking tour visiting its colonial streets.
