Full-Day Safari in Selous

Description

Very early in the morning, transfer from your hotel to Stone Town airport to fly to Mtemere airstrip in Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere). The flight lasts approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our English-speaking driver-guide who will provide information about your safari day.

The Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania is a vast wildlife area of 50,000 km² in southern Tanzania. Recognized as a World Heritage Site, it is home to elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs, and more. It offers diverse habitats such as plains, forests, and rivers, allowing safaris by vehicle, on foot, and by boat. The Rufiji River is a notable feature. The reserve contributes to the conservation of endangered species and promotes sustainable tourism.

You will enjoy a full day safari exploring the vast plains in an open-roof safari vehicle, spotting yellow baboons, greater kudus, lions, Masai giraffes, zebras, defassa waterbucks, impalas, Cape buffaloes, vervet monkeys, hippos, and wildebeests, among others. Occasionally, you may encounter African wild dogs, African savannah elephants, cheetahs, sable antelopes, and although leopards, spotted hyenas, and black rhinos inhabit the park, they are rarely seen during safaris. Picnic lunch included.

At the agreed time, transfer back to Mtemere airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar airport. Upon arrival at the airport, our driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.
