Full day in Mikumi

Description

Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania's largest and most accessible parks. It is known for its rich biodiversity and varied landscapes, which include open plains, hills, and forested areas. Transfer to the airport from your beach hotel for departure flight to Mikumi airfield. The flight takes approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Upon arrival, an English speaking guide will pick you up in a 4x4 vehicle to start the safari. During the morning you will explore the open plains of Mikumi, known for their similarity to the Serengeti. Here you may spot large herds of buffalo, zebra, elephant and giraffe. Mikumi is also home to predators such as lions and leopards, and the local guides know exactly where to look to maximise sighting opportunities.

Mid-morning, you'll enjoy a picnic lunch in a safe area within the park, surrounded by nature and overlooking a waterhole where hippos and crocodiles often congregate.

In the afternoon, you will continue your game drive through woodlands and savannahs where it is possible to see antelope, impala, and the rare sable antelope. Mikumi is an excellent place for bird watching, with over 400 species to be found, including eagles, herons and kingfishers.

At the end of the day's exploration, you will return to the airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar. Arrive at Stone Town airport and transfer to the beach hotel.
