The Tea Route

The Tea Route

Discover the colonial past of Mauritius and the importance of tea in its past, present, and future. And don’t leave the island without experiencing its famous giant tortoises.

Description

our the most famous colonial houses and tea plantations on the island. Your day will begin at Domaine des Aubineaux, one of the best-known tea estates and colonial houses in Mauritius, where you’ll have the pleasure of enjoying the landscape, visiting the factory and the museum. The visit ends—how could it be otherwise—with a tea tasting on one of its verandas or in the billiard room, both offering exceptional views.

Your next stop on this tea and colonial heritage route continues at the Domaine de Saint Aubin, where you’ll explore its grounds, an anthurium nursery, and vanilla plantations, and enjoy lunch in the old colonial mansion built in the 19th century from ship wood.

The final visit takes you to the La Vanille Nature Park, best known for its giant tortoises, but where you can also admire other exotic animal species.
